Heritage Shutters, Incorporated in 1971, was originally operated by James and Lee Craft. James and Lee brought a lifetime of experience building custom furniture and drapery to the shutter industry. In 1975 Tim Craft joined Heritage and worked in the factory first then moved to sales. In 1989 Tim and Clare Craft took over the daily business. Soon their two sons Dale and Tim will take their turn.
When Sun City West started to grow, Heritage Shutters was chosen by Dell Webb to do the shutters for their Design Centers. Heritage worked in Sun City Grand, Terravida, Trovas and Bellesara in Scottsdale, and 10 years at Anthem.
Along with many great customers and friends the real success is due to the shutter itself. Over the last 10 years there have been many introductions of imitation materials. One great misconception is these materials are equal to or superior to wood shutters. We have experimented with poly products and vinyl clad products and found, along with some of our friendly competitors, these are the products that are more likely to warp and suffer sun damage. Almost everyone has seen what sun can do to plastic related materials. We use select, kiln-dried basswood with a special formulated UV undercoat. The final topcoat is applied with a beautiful satin sheen. The beauty and feel of this real wood shutter cannot be imitated. Heritage Shutters are the finest shutters available, with prices lower than home improvement stores.
